In reply to Scott E Anderson. Hi Scott, Thanks for writing. There is nothing better than sandy loam soil of slightly acidic pH for growing the vast preponderance of plants worldwide. The only improvement one can make on it, is to add some homemade compost which is appreciated by plants that have been cultivated away from their wild parentage (as with S. div). Richo

Hi Rico…I have question about growing plants in forest dirt when required. I’ve just finished your book on growing medicinals and was wondering….is forest soil, forest soil? I have 2 salvia divanorum plants that are doing ok. My question is, can I use my wonderful NJ forest soil for them…or continue to use potting soil with amendments
